In 1909 Harrison D. McFaddin was granted a patent of Emeralite desk lamp with his “Original and ornamental design for lampshades. We’ve all seen these lamps in the darkly lit offices, in university and national libraries across the world – even on the U.S. president's desk in the Oval Office. More than a hundred years have passed and the original design is still popular all around the world, which proves that there is no need to redesign or change anything, but I wonder if it were possible to capture similar mood and aura while creating something new in todays context...
