Gold plated heart shaped paperclip, based on a modified 1897 design.
The first patent for a bent wire paper clip was awarded in the United States to Samuel B. Fay in 1867. Over the period of more than a hundred years and countless iterations and hundreds of patents granted, many inventors and designers always found shortcomings and offered new designs. Yet the most common type of wire paper clip still in use, the Gem paper clip, was never patented.

As we now have replaced most physical paperwork with virtual documents, only on rare occasions the most important documents tend to be presented in print. So let's celebrate these moments with love.
